Naomi Smith

Naomi L.A Smith (she/her) is a Critical Librarian recognised by International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), an emerging Race & Resistance Scholar and digital influencer advocating for Critical Racial Justice in the Library and Technology sectors. Recently Naomi has begun creating an online educational platform called Black and Gold Education; an acronym for Black Skin Gold Hair Librarian, Addressing Critical Knowledge Gaps Aiming to start discussions and New ways of thinking to help Disadvantaged people and Guide anyone and everyone On how to Learn and use Difficult critical theory to make more Empowered critical choices in life.
Naomi uses this platform to develop and foster global Critical Race awareness that is needed outside of academia and librarianship, as well as use the platform to eventually monetise her visionary ideas via freelance consultancy and corporate and/or educational workshops. Whilst some may view her desire to create a business model and ensure a desirability, viability, feasibility, adaptability and sustainability of her services support (Racial) Capitalism, Naomi has socialist values and believes holistically if you receive more you can give more back to the communityShe also passionately believes that any entitled assumptions that Black (female) labour should be free is extractive and ignores the physical, emotional and even ancestral demands that all Race and Resistance work demands, especially for work as unique work as hers’ – see https://linktr.ee/naomilasmith
